(Sweet Sensation Yearling Gelding)
Daily turnout on 30 acres of newly seeded (2007) rotational grazing pastures.
Currently, to prevent grass founder or colic, we are weaning the horses onto pasture 2-3 hours daily.
Horses are brought into individual separate stalls for their daily feedings. They are turned out once each day to graze. Later in the summer, we will leave them in their cool stalls during the day and turn them out at night.
We utilize almost all of our pasture so a horse can be a horse in the herd environment, naturally grazing out on pasture.
We feed an excellent quality of alfalfa/grass square baled hay, oats & vitamins.
We don't believe in round bale feeding just because it's easier and less expensive. Generally, round baled hay has less nurtritional value and you cannot regulate how much your horse is getting fed or not being fed (as the case may be). In addition, round bale competition can leave your horse with costly injuries.
No dirt lot turn-out.....we never
put too many horses in too small an area....

No dusty arena riding.
The indoor riding arena
is treated for dust and watered for dust-free riding.
Both arenas are harrowed frequently.

"I originally came to Wellgreen Farm to volunteer services
for the Well Child Foundation. I was immediately impressed
with the care and expertise Wellgreen provided to the clients
of the Foundation and the Farm. I now own a horse and stable
it at Wellgreen. The Farm takes excellent care of my horse in
their well kept facilities. I enjoy going to the Farm not only to see
and ride my horse, but also to see the children having fun with
their lessons. Each time I go I learn something new about horses
and riding from the experienced staff. They are like family.
I would highly recommend Wellgreen Farm to anyone, young
or old, who are interested in learning more about horses
and/or riding from a caring and experienced staff and facility."

One Happy Boarder & Her Horse! |
I've been asked, "Marj., if there is such a thing as reincarnation, can I come back as your horse?" While this is the highest
form of compliment anyone could ask for, I would have to defer to divine intervention on this one. :)
Still, it says a lot about our facility, our programs, and our premise where we always consider the welfare of our equestrian
friends in everything that we do......
Horses give us the best they have to give. Isn't it our job to look out for their welfare in addition? I don't know about you, but
we believe that we are obligated to do right by them and be the loyal leader they are searching for.....taking good care of them
nutritionally and not shortchanging them in any other way....For us and our boarders, it can't be about what is cheapest or
easiest. It has to be about doing what is right!
I've also been told, "Marj., you have what everyone wants in a horse but few people ever get." I think that everyone can have
the same bonding relationship we have with our horses, if they just know how to go about it getting it. But, the very essence
of it begins with considering the horse......Remember your horse depends on you!
