Wellgreen Farm is currently accepting horses who just need foundation training as well as those horses that need fine tuning:

Does your horse run off with you, buddy sour, barn sour, or spooking instead of allowing you to guide him in the bridle?

Does your horse pace (or trot) instead of gait?

Does your horse push through the bridle?

Does your horse throw his head up when asking to back or when wanting a release of the reins?

Does your horse speed up when you ask him to yield to your individual leg aids?

Does your horse appear stiff in his back and joints?

Does your horse appear out of balance?

Does your horse understand lateral flexion in the snaffle bit?

Does your horse make smooth transitions speeding up and slowing down?

Is your horse's frame collected or is your horse front end heavy and not using his back end to work underneath himself?

Do you know where your horses legs are at at all times?

Do you know that your left and right reins talk to your horse's left and right front legs?

Did you know that your back legs talk to your horse's back legs?

Is your horse hallowing out his back, with his head up, and his legs trailing out behind him in an uncollected frame?

If your horse has any of these problems, we can help you fine tune your horse to be light to your hands, seat, and legs; to respect the aids; to get in balance, collected, and soften his head and neck; and work underneath himself.  It is only then that your horse will begin to trust you to guide him.

Your relationship with your horse becomes one of mutual respect and bonding.

Let us help you help your horse.

This isn't horse training.  It is people training.

Pilates for Horseback Riders

I have attended Pilates sessions for months now, and I can't begin to tell you how much this helps with my horseback riding!!!

If you think about it, cross training with Pilates exercises for horseback riding makes perfect sense. Key elements of Pilates like

pelvic and shoulder stability, core strength, and flexibility are essential for the equestrian. And, the body/mind integrative aspect

of Pilates reinforces the important and fascinating body/mind (and horse) aspect of horseback riding. The Pilates principles: centering,

concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow are directly translatable to horseback riding. No wonder there has been a significant

rise in interest among equestrians in the benefits of Pilates training.

Once or twice a week, I attend a pilates class in Bloomington to cross train. By learning how to use core stability and independent muscle movement patterns you can train yourself to become a better rider.  Won't you join me?
