Barn Interns
Daily duties will range and be assigned based on prior experience and the requirements of your university, You will also get direct experience in working with recreational riders and guided rides, matching horses and riders, spotting and fixing tack problems, helping riders overcome their fears, developing your powers of observation in dealing with horse health issues and, above all understanding and following safety procedures. You can expect to spend a lot of time working with and the training of horses. You will also be working with beginning riders, exercising horses, assisting and giving lessons, show preparation, and performing barn maintenance.

Office Interns
Duties and projects will range and be assigned based on prior experience and the requirement of your university. However possible assignments include, but are not limited to- updating website, working on newsletters, youth porgarm director, creating flyers, acting as the volunteer coordinator, create advertisements, working with local business, work as a camp director during summer etc. Contact with the horses and the barn will likely occur, however, is not to be expected.

Internships do not earn a salary.
Wellgreen has on-site shared housing available for out of state/town interns,
pending excellent references and a signed written agreement.
We ask that you must know that the hours are long, expectations are high, and safety is critical.

Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Barn Interns must be physically fit- due to the physical demands of the internship. Interns must have their own health or accident insurance and a valid driver’s license. Those accepted are responsible for their travel expenses to and from Wellgreen Farm, in Downs IL.

An intern may be dismissed at any time if they have broken the signed agreement of the internship.

To apply for an Internship e-mail a resume including work history and references. Those applying for an Office Internship also need to submit a portfolio or writing examples. Barn Interns need to submit equestrian-related references, a video or photos of you riding or working with horses.
