Horsemanship classes are designed for those
students who wish to fast track their
learning experience with our trained quarter horses or paso fino horses.
This program is designed around a framework of
practical, theoretical and observation conducted
in a concentrated time frame. This
program is extremely popular with both newcomers
as well as students that
have to travel a great distance to be with us.
These classes are tailored to the needs of the rider as no two riders are the same.
Each student comes to us with a unique set of
previous experiences as well as goals. Each horse, in addition,
is an individual as well.
We begin everyone with the basics.
Some of the topics covered include:
Basic Care & Nutrition
Proper Grooming and Handling
Respect on the Ground
Groundwork Exercises
Balance finding the proper seat
Proper use of reins
Anatomy, Conformation, Gaits, Saddle,
Equitation, Use of Stirrups & Legs
Control & Psychology of the horse,
These classes are given on Wellgreen Farm's horses
that have been specially trained for this purpose.
This allows us to focus on the student, not the horse with
special emphasis on communicating with the horse.
We have many different horses that will offer
different challenges and teach
different skills to the student. We match up the horses based on the
students previous horse related experiences and knowledge level.
Our objective is to teach the student the skills
to use on their own horses
as well as any horse that they may ride in the future.
Our previous students have found this
course both invaluable, safe, and fun.
The cost for the two day course is $ 375.00
The 7 day course is $1,450.00
Another option for students who live an hour or two away
and want to make the most of their drive is to schedule multiple individual classes on the same day.
Also available is our overnight accomodations in our barn.
